Carts were allowed but I walked the course which was in great conditions despite it being the middle of winter,Ā

⭐ Overall Rating

The course design is an old school golf course design with plenty of dog legs, fairways running off to either the left or right in many cases and testing greens with hidden break in them.

I had never played here and really enjoyed the course. It is a longish course of the back tees, but straight and sensible play allows for good scoring chances.

Conditioning of the course was excellent but being winter pick, clean and place rules were used on fairways. Pace of play was good and the layout a real treat.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ (8/10)

šŸ“Š RATINGS SUMMARY

Category Rating Notes (optional but encouraged)
Overall Condition ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (8.5/10) Excellent, well maintained, well-loved and playing well throughout.
Difficulty ⭐⭐⭐ ā˜†(7.5/10)

The length made it difficult, the slope causing ball run of the fairways made it difficult, the hidden contours on greens made it difficult and the narrowness of some of the holes also increased the difficulty of the course.

Despite all of this, it is not beyond most average golfers' abilities.

Tee Condition ⭐⭐⭐ ⭐(8.5/10) All tee boxes had a good even coverage of well-maintained grass.
Fairway Condition ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (8/10) Holes 1 and 2, down the lower part of the course were not great, but it is winter. Once we got passed the halfway mark of hole 2 all fairways were excellent.
Green Condition ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (8.5/10) Subtle slopes but some severe breaks. They rolled consistently and well punishing poor putting. Not too many pitch marks and receptive to attacking shots. I can imagine them being extremely tough in summer.
Bunker Condition āāāā˜† (7.5/10) Generally really good, a few muddy sloshy bunkers along the way but for the most they were well raked and well maintained.
Clubhouse/ Bar & Food āāāā˜† (7.5/10) Food was very reasonably priced and service was good. Nothing flash, but a welcoming and warm environment that encouraged you to stick around after the round with great views over the course.
Pro Shop Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (8/10) Small pro-shop but friendly staff.
Value for Money ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (8/10) Compared to what is around and the condition of the course, I found the weekend rate to be good value.

āœ… Yes /Ā
I would and I would recommend it to other golfers. It is a challenging but enjoyable well maintained golf course.

šŸ“ THE REVIEW

First Impressions & Standout Features

Walking up toward the putting green and seeing the 1st tee and18th green it looked like an inviting well-kept course. A bit of a country course feel to it which I like.

The course condition was a standout for me as was the enjoyable layout. Plenty of Kangaroos around. No easy holes is how I would summarise it.

Standout feature was the layout, Old school and lots of fun. Not favouring a fade or a draw, a mix of both and well laid out.Ā

Best Holes or Memorable Moments

So many I could list here. The over the water 8th tee shot, always fun, the 15th tee shot tempting you to go over the trees and cut the corner - which I managed to do so that was a memorable moment for me.

The severe doglegs on 12 and so many other holes is fun. I liked the uphill 9th curving to the right, the par 5 8th and 10th were also favourites of mine.

šŸ’¬ General comments or suggestions

Overall, I would highly recommend this course. I am curious to play it in summer, I think the additional run of the fairways and greens will severely increase the difficulty of the course.Ā

No suggestions, keep doing what you are doing. The place is great.

Malvern Valley Public Golf Course - Review July 21st 2026

A shorter inner-city course that I will definitely play again. In much better condition than I had remembered it. Receptive greens, good fairways and some tightish tee shots on numerous holes.
