Tee time booked for 10:04am from hole # 1 and there was no wind at all. The sun was trying to warm us up but it was still a little cold, about 12 Celsius, it did warm up during the round getting to about 15.
Course was full but not overly busy. I walked the course, my 2 playing partner's hired a buggy.
Despite it being the middle of winter the course drainage must be working overtime as the fairways were all supurb, no mud to find, no wet spots, just a really well conditioned course with beautiful greens.
⭐ Overall Rating
The more I play at this course the more I like it and today's round, the first time I have played here in winter, raised the high bar set by this place.
We all walked away raving about the course and its playability, in particular the speedy but fantastic greens.
The course has a number of water hazards and numerous fairway and greenside bunkers as well as a few hidden creeks crossing fairways meaning some level of strategy comes into play when hitting off here. The landing zones are decent and the first cut of rough does not punish too much, all in all a great golfing experience on a fun, varying and challenging at times course.
The biggest thing to come out of today and raise the rating was the conditioning of the course in the middle of winter - excellent.

📊 RATINGS SUMMARY
| Category | Rating | Notes (optional but encouraged) |
|---|---|---|
| Overall Condition | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (8.5/10) | Excellent, well maintained, drains superbly and the greens are just really really nice to play on. Fairways were good though seemed to be a little dormant - but that is only a visual thing, playability wise they were great. |
| Difficulty | ⭐⭐⭐⭐(8/10) |
It has a mix of long holes and some very gettable shorter holes but with well placed bunkering, interesting routing, water hazards and undulation changes, it provides a good level of difficulty. |
| Tee Condition | ⭐⭐⭐⭐(8/10) |
Tee boxes were good on the day, a few scrappy ones on par 3's but it is hard to re-grow grass when it gets so much use in the middle of winter. The blue tees on the 5th, that were not being used due to rabbit damage, was the only one that was worrying. |
| Fairway Condition | ⭐⭐⭐⭐(8/10) |
The fairways seemed like they were slightly dormant. That said, they were firm and good to play off. The dryness of them surprised us and the run they were getting was amazing for a course in the southern hemisphere in August. |
| Green Condition | ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (9.5/10) |
The greens are really good here, contoured and tiered greens running fast and pure. They are also receptive to spin and stopping the ball from longer approach shots. They did punish if you took on too much of a risk with a few balls rolling of the edges. Not too many unrepaired pitch marks which is a credit to local players. The group kept talking about the greens and how good they were. |
| Bunker Condition | ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (9/10) |
The bunkers were fantastic, well raked across the entire course. The only knock would be different types of sand in different bunkers. Not an issue for me - just saying. |
| Clubhouse/ Bar & Food | ⭐⭐⭐⭐(8.5/10) |
Very friendly staff, a good range of food and drinks and pretty standard pricing. Indoor and outdoor areas available and it was a nice spot to enjoy a chat after the round overlooking part of the course. The only issue was the chairs in the outdoor seating area were a little low. |
| Pro Shop Experience | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (8.5/10) |
The staff were friendly and welcoming. Smallish pro-shop but all of our questions were answered and our needs met in a very professional and friendly way. |
| Value for Money | ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (9/10) | Really excellent value for money. The ACE Society hole in one entry fee for the Par 3 9th is included in the green fees. |
Would you play here again?

In the carpark we were talking about when we can get back over here for a round.
📝 THE REVIEW
First Impressions & Standout Features
The first impression is that this is a well thought out, well-loved facility. Nice clubhouse, friendly people and a lovely entrance where you overlook the 1st, 18th and 10th as well as the back 9 beneath you as you walk through to the course. The Melbourne City Skyline backdrop is also very nice.
The standout feature was the condition of the course as described above, especially the greens - a big shout out to the ground staff. I was also very impressed to see on the back 9 the amount of non-intrusive works they are currently undertaking to improve the areas between holes and around some tee boxes and greens - well done.
Standout feature for me is the routing and the variety of holes that this provides throughout the round.
Best Holes or Memorable Moments
I think I prefer the front 9 at this course, but there are some great stretches on the back 9 like the 18th back up the hill towards the clubhouse.
The 1st is one of my favourites as is the 4th, 7th, 10th, almost drivable 11th and the long 16th with the creek across the fairway where I would normally land my driver.
My birdie on the 2nd was a memorable moment.
💬 General comments or suggestions
There is very little I could say in terms of suggestions to improve this facility as it is in really excellent condition, both in terms of playability and also in terms of the professionalism of the staff making you feel welcome and included.
