Conditions at Time of Play:
An 8:20am start in the middle of winter, overcast with the occasional burst of beautiful winters sunshine. Temperatures ranged from about 10 through to 16 Celsius throughout the round. We walked the course, but carts were allowed if desired.

It was my first time playing this course and the conditions were great and the course a real treat. The course was busy but it never felt crowded or slow.

⭐ Overall Rating

The immediate feeling is of a welcoming well organised municipal course. Plenty of good and accessible practice facilities and a community kind of vibe to the club.

The front 9 reminded me more of an older school layout with doglegs and kinks in many of the holes whereas the back 9 had a lot more of a straight hole layout with some long par 4's and par 5's, especially through 15, 16 and 17.

The course seems to be midway through upgrading their greens. With a few of the old smaller greens still in place but the majority are larger, contoured newer greens with well-placed bunkers keeping you honest and straight. All greens were in great condition.

Fairways were excellent, as were the tee boxes and greens throughout the round. Bunkers were in great condition and well maintained. Not the widest of courses, with trees down both sides of all holes and a few water hazards to catch the wayward drives.

⭐⭐⭐☆ (7.83/10)

📊 RATINGS SUMMARY

Category Rating Notes (optional but encouraged)
Overall Condition ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (9/10) Excellent condition throughout the course, nothing could be faulted.
Difficulty ⭐⭐⭐☆ (7.5/10)

This is a tough one, I wouldn't rate it an overall difficult course, but the last 2 par 4's are extremely long increasing the overall rating.

Tee Condition ⭐⭐⭐⭐(8.5/10) All Tee boxes were in good condition. You can see they rotate positioning to maintain the tee boxes.
Fairway Condition ⭐⭐⭐⭐(8.5/10) The fairways all had good well cut grass coverage and were nice to play off. Not much run on them on this day but we are in the middle of winter. Despite this, there was no ball plugging so drainage is working well.
Green Condition ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (8.5/10)

Two different kinds of green throughout the course and both played well. The older greens are a lot smaller with less bunkers surrounding them, still a challenge. The new greens had interesting and varied contours. Conditioning was excellent and they all played true.

Great to see only a few pitch marks left unrepaired.

Bunker Condition ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (8.5/10) The bunkers were really nice, well raked, smooth sand, no debris and fair to play from.
Clubhouse/ Bar & Food ⭐⭐⭐ (6/10) Basic but accommodating with room available both inside and out. Limited food and drinks but all the essentials were covered. Very friendly staff.
Pro Shop Experience ⭐⭐☆ (5/10) Combined with the bar area, minimal.
Value for Money ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (9/10) Based on the course layout and the excellent conditioning of the course I found this course to be great value for money.

Would you play here again?

✅ Yes
It will definitely now be included in my roster of courses to play.

📝 THE REVIEW

First Impressions & Standout Features

On arrival you walk into an area with a large practice green, well manicured garden areas and a welcoming staging area. You can see through the trees a few holes with the par 3 18th right in front of you and it makes you feel like you are at a well loved golf course.

The newer greens were all fantastic, the course layout was interesting a varied. Standout holes were the majority to be honest. Nice opening par 5, the 3rd, 4th and 5th were all great fun, the long par 3 8th, simple but testing.

The standout feature was the overall condition of the course in every aspect and the welcoming nature of it.

The ease of this golf course without it being easy is a big plus for me.

Best Holes or Memorable Moments

The course had a great mix of holes, Visually, holes 7, 11 and13 were the standouts. The testing 16th and 17th par 4's will not easily be forgotten. Nothing tricky about them, they are just long.

The stretch of holes 3, 4 and 5 was also an enjoyable little stretch. Hole # 1 was my favourite of the par 5's.

💬 General comments or suggestions

Keep doing what you are doing, it is working. This is a course where I do not think anyone could come away saying a bad word about it. Everything here just feels right and plays nicely.

Off the blues markers there were no easy holes on the course except maybe the 10th. Some are easier but in general they all provide a rewarding challenge and are enjoyable to play. The vibe around this place is also top notch.

Looks like good toilet facilities on course.

A shorter inner-city course that I will definitely play again. In much better condition than I had remembered it. Receptive greens, good fairways and some tightish tee shots on numerous holes.

Rossdale Golf Club - Review July 31st 2026

As we finished, I commented to my playing partner that this is the time I wish I was a member, as I would love to go out for another 18 holes there and then. A sand belt course with excellent drain...
